We are an all-volunteer organisation which runs the town museum (including its family history Research Corner), maintains a substantial archive of local documents and photographs, and presents a fascinating programme of local history talks.
Crediton Area History And Museum Society was founded in September 1984 by a group of enthusiastic local historians led by Rev. Christopher Gilham who aimed to promote interest in local history and to provide Crediton with a museum. The society became a registered charity in 1991.
Crediton Museum and Heritage Centre opened in April 2010 in the ground floor room of the Old Town Hall in Crediton High Street. It is run entirely by volunteers with funds from grants, donations and fundraising events.
Over the last 25 years the Society has put on a number of successful exhibitions focusing on Crediton and its people at different periods of history. In addition, monthly lectures are held, usually at the Boniface Centre in Crediton, and visits to places of historic importance and occasional social events are organised.
The Society sends representatives to other committees such as those refurbishing the Town Hall, reinstating Upper Deck at George Hill, and Crediton Festivals.

TCR Radio CIC formed in April 2017 playing out on cold Saturday mornings before that from the local market, we then had a little studio at Petroc College. TCR is at its heart is a community radio station however we run things differently we don't have a schedule of presenters nor do we chase advertisers but you can sponsor us! Our strength is our mobility and flexibility. We are a registered social enterprise that is, we don't make a profit it goes back into what we offer and we give back to charities by our fund-raising too this year our charities were Marie Curie and Cayla's Fight. We can boost your local event with PA and music whether it be a school fete to The Mid Devon Show we keep costs low so you can benefit too and we actively promote on social media. We pride ourselves on our dedicated volunteers and we offer valuable work experience too to get onto the industry that has many offshoots. We are pretty unique and cover most of the 'Tons' from Tiverton to Bampton to Cullompton to Crediton to Honiton! We do pop up shows too.

The Blackdown Hills Rough Grazing Association is a landowner-led local group for owners and managers of rough, wildlife-rich grazing land.
Its aim is to encourage the active management of this characteristic type of land in the Blackdown Hills, to optimise its wildlife value and it economic relevance.
The Association pursues its aim by enabling owners and managers of rough, wildlife-rich land to communicate with each other, to share experience and to learn together.
The Association is independent of all agencies and external organisations and is run by local people, for local people. It is a constituted group with a small committee, with all members either owning rough land, being responsible for managing it, or having an interest in it.
The Blackdown Hills Rough Grazers Association was set up in early 2014 by a small group of landowners and managers, following the ‘Beef & Butterflies’ project.
We aim to give a voice to local people who own and manage the traditional pastures and meadows in the Blackdown Hills. The Hills contain generations of knowledge about these special places, and we want to help share that knowledge.
The rough, wet grazing land in the Blackdowns is hard to farm but rich in wildlife – we want it, and its owners, to thrive.

Working with nature and local communities, we aim to make the river better for wildlife and people, and more resilient to flood and drought. We want to collaborate with those living in the River Culm catchment to help solve the river’s problems. As a part of this, we will use proven nature-based solutions that provide many other benefits too.

Sustainable Tiverton is part of the Transition Network, which inspires and supports communities to become more sustainable in the face of climate change – building resilience, supporting bio-diversity and reducing CO2 emissions. We encourage local projects that combat global warming and environmental damage; by supporting community groups to set up, run activities and events, get publicity, and work with others nearby.

The Friends of the Grand Western Canal is for all who enjoy the South West's grandest attraction!
Some enjoy the Grand Western for Olympic training; others want nothing more than a relaxing walk with the dog on a winter morning. The canal is home to trail-boats and narrow-boats as well as enjoyed by visiting paddlers and canoeists. It hosts a staggering variety of wildlife and some of the finest fishing in the South West.
Whatever floats your boat, if it's connected with the Grand Western Canal then we are here for you!
We work closely with the Devon County Council Rangers team who manage the Grand Western Country Park in Devon

We’ve launched an emergency appeal as we’re dependent on our admission income and have limited cash reserves. You can donate by clicking here.
Explore the museum’s large, outstanding collections and trace the fascinating history of Mid Devon. The displays include the ‘Tivvy Bumper’ GWR steam engine, local industries (particularly lace making), farm waggons and the history of agriculture, and the every day home life of Mid Devon folk.
The museum is family friendly and offers a warm welcome to everyone. There is a lively temporary exhibition programme – please look at the events page for further details.
Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life was started by a few energetic individuals concerned that many of the objects and much of the information about Tiverton and the surrounding areas would be lost if nothing was done to collect them in the rapidly changing post-war world.
The museum is an independent charitable trust. The museum receives grants from Mid Devon District Council and Tiverton Town Council that contribute towards our running costs, although we remain dependent upon other grants, donations, fundraising and income generated through admission and shop sales.
We have been delighted to win a number of awards in the past few years, including Trip Adviser Certificate of Excellence 2019 and Trip Adviser Hall of Fame 2019.
