10 years ago Chris Green realised that although there were a lot of bike shops in the Southwest, few catered for the real ‘Athlete’, coupled with the Fitness and extreme sports lifestyle the North Devon Coast attracted he felt a specialist bike shop was need. Although the fitness and extreme sports customers are important and to a degree the inspiration, it was also and still is important to be the ‘Village Bike Shop’. It is as important to be fixing punctures for passing touring cyclists and fitting baskets to shopping bikes as selling ‘Tour De France’ level equipment. Southfork is a friendly, professional environment for everyone into cycling of every type. As Every type of cycling is what Southfork Cycles does.

Plastic Free North Devon is a local environmental charity started by volunteers who want to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on the environment in North Devon and beyond. Our mission is to protect and improve our environment through community-led action to combat plastic pollution.
Our mission is to protect and improve our environment through community-led action to combat plastic pollution.
We aim to achieve this by helping people to recognise the relevance and value of the environment to their lives; to see and experience first-hand the impact of plastic pollution on nature; and to support good choices in purchasing, use and disposal of plastics, as we move to a more sustainable community.
By working with local communities, businesses, organisations and government we aim to:
- Raise awareness of our environment and how it is affected by plastic.
- Reduce the consumption of single-use plastics in North Devon.
- Clear waste plastic from our coasts, waterways, countryside and urban areas.
- Recycle and dispose of used plastics in an appropriate way.

We are a group of residents in and around Chulmleigh who care deeply about the environment in which we live and want to ensure its future for generations to come.
We welcome polite discussion, positive ideas and respectful comments from all. Please feel free to share anything you feel may be of interest to the group, especially ideas on reducing, re-using and recycling purchases, and any sites you feel may be relevant to the group.
Climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem destruction are very real problems, but we can all help to be a part of the solution.
Be kind and courteous
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.

361 Community Energy is a not-for-profit social enterprise with a mission to help northern Devon’s community to take climate change action and rapidly reduce the region’s carbon footprint. We do this in a hopeful, action-based and non-partisan way.
361 is supported by a wide range of local and regional partnerships, including North Devon Council, Torridge Council, Devon County Council, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, local climate groups and more. We are focused on significant carbon reduction while also increasing quality of life for everyone in the region, young or old.
The 'Live Love Local' campaign supports North Devon's brilliant businesses to operate safely during the Coronavirus pandemic. It also encourages residents to spend their money locally to help our local economy recover.
North Devon Council’s Live Love Local campaign is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and Her Majesty’s Government.
Here are three ways supporting local businesses gives back to the community:
- 1. It strengthens the local economy
- 2. It’s good for you and the environment
- 3. It bolsters community spirit

Fridays for Future Barnstaple is a group of teenagers (and beyond) united under a common goal: to bring the climate crisis into public conversation in order to pressure institutions to act now so that our futures - and those already experiencing the impacts - are protected. Inspired by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg (and the dire actions of our government), we have held some form of public event almost every month since May 2019, ranging from small assemblies to general strikes ~850+ strong as part of an international strike.

We are a local group based in and around Barnstaple, North Devon. We are a group of ordinary folk; mothers, teachers, retirees, activists, organising a local uprising in solidarity with the Extinction Rebellion Demands.
