We believe in good food for everybody – it is as simple as that!
Our fantastic suppliers and growers provide us with a full range of fruit, vegetables, cheese, milk, yoghurts, meats, fish, hand-made bread and pastries. As much as possible this is grown or made locally; some of which you won’t find for sale anywhere else. Of course, to provide a good array year-round, we rely on sourcing more widely too.
We also stock store-cupboard ingredients – herbs and spices, flours, pulses, oils and all sorts of interesting tasty treats.
Our aim is to minimise transportation, packaging and the use of chemical pest- and herbicides involved in the produce we offer. Some of our staples are organic as standard!
We are open 6 days a week in Eggesford - we would love to see you.

The Blacksmiths Arms is a family-run public house that was built in 1626 and was taken over by Russell and his wife Suchada, who took over the pub 4 years ago. The building is over 400 years old and as soon as you walk in you know you will soon become a part of the furniture.
Based just outside of Tavistock, we offer traditional pub food and also an array of Thai cuisine as Russell's wife Suchada is Thai and the second chef.

Out for a stroll or walking the Two Moors Way? You will need some sustenance to keep you going – a pint at the end of a walk, or even in the middle is great motivation! Your muddy boots, dogs and children are all welcome to sit awhile enjoying your meal – and bringing mud is optional!
You will love the relaxed atmosphere, variety of drinks and the mouth-watering menu. The fireside chairs are most popular and oh so relaxing – nodding off is not uncommon!

We recently refurbished the New Inn to upgrade our kitchen, bar and heating, together with improvements to the menu and beverage selection.
More ‘rustic family-run pub’ than ‘gastro’, this shows in our authentic decor, homemade food, local beverage, prices, and even the banter with guests. Plus we love experimenting with ideas for our entertainment & menus, so while seeking to source ethically where possible, suggestions are most welcome! Bear in mind: our cooking is fresh to order, and we only serve what we would put on our own table.

Here at the Fresh Flour company, we partner with organic farmers and pay them a decent amount for their grain – four to five times the market rate – so they can tend the soil and environment, without fear of survival. We mill this grain using one of our stone mills. We then take this product, within a short amount of time, and make it into Pasta, Noodles, Crackers, Digestives and Bran Flakes, capturing a greater amount of nutritional value. We use Ancient and heritage and interesting wheats, as they are better for us and for the biodiversity.
We make “Everyday products, brilliantly” to make the grain system work – for agricultural people.
We also work in a socially conscious manner, by offering all our products loose - saving on packaging, environmentally and economically - direct from the mill and through 'to good to go’, 'the Mazi project’ and 'food in community’. That way we can offer high quality products to a wide range of socioeconomic groups.
What are we trying to achieve?
1. Grow interesting, (heritage, or population) grain, at an appropriate scale, that isn't overbreed.
2. Grow grain in the presence of sunshine NOT, as is the norm, in the presence of oil. (Natural not synthetic. There is NO second way)
3. Pay farmers a sustainable wage to do the job they love.
4. Pass on to the consumer the whole goodness that the grain holds. (Fresh Flour).
