Hartstongue - Shops and Businesses

The farm is the lifeblood of the Koa Tree Project. Extending over 30 acres it comprises of woodland, pasture, vegetable beds and wild untouched havens for North Devon's flora and fauna. We hope to add to this an aquaponics system in 2019. This will produce vegetables, salads and fish taking sustainable growing beyond organic practice into an ecomimicry approach.

We aim to experiment with and promote sustainable agricultural techniques and to use these to educate farmers, growers and children in alternative methods for a sustainable future. A permaculture design underpins our whole farm strategy and into this we bring agroforestry, productive wetlands, holistic grazing, sustainable woodland management and vegetable growing.

Through our relationship with The Resurgence Trust we will be offering a range of courses covering these practices and more. For more information on these or to discuss our methods or research opportunities please do get in touch.

Blagdon Wharf Barn Farm started in 2019. With a passion to have their children eating fresh vegetables and growing up with animals, knowing where their food came from, it was with hard work and dedication they finally decided to share their love for food and farming and started a farm. Now its time for them to share their knowledge and great food with others around them. Our CSA programme can deliver within a 10 Mile radius of Holsworthy.

Country Cottage Bakery was founded in the mid 70's in the heart of the historic market town of Bideford, and has been owned and run by us since 1990.

It was a very traditional setup with the bakery nestled behind the shop and on view to our customers. We started with seven employees, now we employ a fourty-one strong workforce (one of which was in my original seven). We now have three shops, a Market outlet and run a fleet of five wholesale delivery vans servicing over one hundred Hotels, Restaurants and Shops throughout North Devon.

Our business philosophy is simple, Good Quality, Good Service, Reliability and a Fair Price. I also believe that you simply can't do everything yourself, which is why a lot of emphasis is placed on staff training.

Our family have farmed in North Devon for over 100 years, in that time farming dairy, beef, sheep and chicken. In recent years and with an ever-growing awareness of consumers wanting high quality locally produced food, we embarked on selling eggs to local outlets and caterers, including shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and hotels – thus the brand of Farmer Bob’s Eggs was launched in 2010.

During the summer of 2018 we had the opportunity of taking on a local dairy business of high repute, having been built up over the last 30 years, and so we became Farmer Bob’s Dairy.

Farmer Bob’s Dairy is delivering produce to your door 6 days a week. Delivery days are as follows:
Barnstaple – Mondays and Thursdays
Braunton and Ilfracombe – Tuesdays and Fridays
Bideford and South Molton – Wednesdays and Saturdays
For other towns and villages you will be given notification of which day by email.
