We are a Dog and Children friendly licensed Inn & Restaurant on the A39/A399 Junction at Blackmoor Gate. This converted railway station is on the old Lynton to Barnstaple Railway and offers a wide range of food & drink. Superb views with Beer Garden & children's outdoor play area.
The Inn was originally one of the main stations on the Lynton-Barnstaple railway. A narrow gauge steam railway that operated from 1898 until its closure in 1935. We are situated at Blackmoor Gate which is roughly midway between Lynton and Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and South Molton. About ten miles in each direction and approximately 1,000 feet above sea level on the edge of the National Park Exmoor.
Groceries Our shop in the foyer stocks a range of fresh produce from milk, cheese, bacon, ham and eggs laid locally by free range chirpy chicks to jams & chutneys. We also stock basic staples such as cereal, flour and beans to shampoo, shower gel and toilet rolls. We haven't forgotten your furry friends as we stock cat and dog food too. Second hand books are also for sale. Pop in and have a look!

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway We are pleased to announce that agreement has been reached for the L & B Blackmoor Company PLC (L&BBCo.) to purchase the Old Station House Inn at Blackmoor Gate.
The purchase includes the pub and its restaurant, the adjoining house as well as adjacent land (purchased by the L & B Trust) to accommodate the construction of the future L & B station at this site. The purchase will be completed on 17th April, 2023. The accompanying photo shows the property as viewed from its entrance. The L & B Blackmoor Company is a subsidiary of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust. We are indebted to the previous landlords, Mr. & Mrs. Shepherd, who have worked hard over many years to provide a warm welcome to their customers, building a successful business. The venue will eventually provide station facilities for the extended Lynton & Barnstaple Railway whilst continuing its operations as a pub and restaurant.
As the new landlords, the L&BBCo. is not planning any radical change to the premises. However, a programme of investment is planned which will respect the heritage of the building and its setting, retaining and enhancing the character of the building.
