Swanaford Estate is a small, family vineyard producing superb sparkling and still wines from grapes grown on our south east-facing slopes in the Teign Valley. The 10-acre vineyard, located six miles to the south west of Exeter, is planted with Champagne clones of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier to create traditional method sparkling wines. In addition, we have a block of Baachus and Siegrebbe to produce delicious, easy-drinking white wines.

We look forward to you joining us here at The NoBody Inn. We are nestled in the fabulous Teign Valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Just 4 miles off the A38 and 7miles from Exeter. Great walking, riding, with beaches less than 30 drive minutes away
“What can you expect?” A warm welcome, comfy king size beds (with the exception of room 2 primrose – that one is 4’). Big towels. Local ingredients, prepared with care by a dedicated kitchen team. Interesting wines- lots by the glass. Fabulous selection of whiskeys (over 200). Pretty country garden in the summer – log fire in the winter.
“What we don’t have “ Whizz bang wifi (patchy at best). Wall mounted flat screen tv’s, power showers, high ceilings, even floors, children under 5 (unless you are taking all the rooms ) dogs, welcome downstairs but not up. Background music (phew)
We hope that reflects we are a “little old school” and delighted to be so.

Forest Cycle Hire Limited is the only approved cycle hire centre based at the 3,500 acre site of Haldon Forest Park near Exeter.

From an early age I enjoyed playing with clay at home as my mother had a small pottery studio. However, it was not until I lived in Japan in my twenties that I became more seriously interested in making pots.
I loved the delicious food in Japan and the way it was often served on hand-made pots. The variety of tableware and its wide use in homes and restaurants was very inspiring. I started pottery classes and traveled widely in Japan to visit the many pottery areas. In getting to grips with the Japanese language of pottery, I wrote The Japanese Pottery Handbook (Kodansha 1979).
After my apprenticeship at Dartington Pottery, I chose to work with red earthenware clay, following in the English slipware tradition. I love the warm colour of the clay and the decorative possibilities of using coloured slips with a few simple glazes.
My inspiration for decoration comes mainly from nature. I walk in the countryside where I live and the trees and plants provide a wealth of inspiration. I also like to explore texture in my work and often use a ‘sgraffito’ technique, incising through layers of slip to the clay colour underneath. I have worked at my present workshop in Moretonhampstead, Devon, for the last 25 years and enjoy having my own showroom here, where I can meet my customers and work with my apprentices.
