Fair Trade is a tool for reducing poverty in developing nations. It's a form of trade that builds equitable and long-term partnerships between producers in developing regions of the world and consumers in the north. Fair Trade guarantees many things including the following.
- Producers receive a minimum set price for their goods, financial and technical support, healthy and safe working conditions, economic development of their communities, and educational opportunities for their children.
- Consumers receive excellent products plus the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are actively addressing poverty, preserving the environment, and promoting an end to child labour.
- The planet receives a chance at health and healing since Fair Trade actively promotes sustainable farming techniques, biodiversity, and bird and animal habitat preservation.

Our vision is to create a lively community cinema, theatre, arts, and entertainment centre in Bovey Tracey. Located at the top end of Fore Street, the King of Prussia Arts Centre will give a new lease of life to this 16th century building, offering an art gallery and four artists' studios, a cinema / theatre with almost 100 seats, a café bar and a high-quality restaurant. As part of Safer Devon, South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership (CSP) works closely with agencies spread throughout South Hams, Teignbridge and West Devon.
We aim to make our communities even safer places to live, work and enjoy by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. We focus on reducing vulnerability through raising awareness and building confidence in our communities around key community safety issues.
South Devon and Dartmoor CSP meets on a regular basis to set agreed priorities for the partnership, which is done by reviewing intelligence about our area from sources such as the Devon Strategic Assessment.

The Newton Abbot Civic Society was founded in 1997 by Keith Stokes-Smith, Lord of Newton Abbot Borough Town and was chaired by him until 2003 when he became the Societies President.
It is a registered charity (1068560) with two trustees and an adopted Constitution.
The charities objects as registered with the Charity Commission are;“IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT WITHIN NEWTON ABBOT BE THAT VISUALLY, QUALITY OF LIFE OR PRESERVATION/CONSERVATION OF INTERESTING AND OR UNIQUE FEATURES." Although more detailed objects are available to members/potential members.
The day to day activities of the Society are run by its members with a core ‘executive’ group as its Officers. The Society meets regularly with membership numbers varying from year to year .For the most part its income is dependent upon membership subscriptions and it has always operated in credit.

Teign Valley Community Hall is situated in Dartmoors' beautiful Teign Valley on the east side of the village of Christow.
Christow is a thriving rural community with a church,pub, post office a shop.
The building was completed in 1998 and has a multi function hall, committee room, kitchen, stage area and superb changing and toilet facilities. It is eminently suitable for a range of applications and functions involving up to 250 people. It is suitable for weddings and large functions all indoor sports, fairs , markets conferences and public meetings. Coaches can be accomodated by arrangement .

The Christow Community Land Trust’s initial aim was to provide affordable housing for people with a strong local connection to our village. This was achieved in 2017 with the completion of 14 passivhaus dwellings in Stafford Close. These houses are mostly for rental as social housing and are managed by Teign Housing .
However, the scope of the Trust provides a vehicle for the Christow CLT to own, develop and protect other property and land and other schemes of benefit to the village. Following the successful completion of Stafford Close, this is now our focus. You can find out about our current projects by contacting one of the Directors, or looking out for updates every three months or so in the local Unity newsletter. We would also welcome new ideas for projects.
