Welcome to the Dawlish Local History Group website. We are a well-established group of Dawlish residents who share an interest in all aspects of local history. This site is one of the best places for information on the history of Dawlish – please explore it.
We offer opportunities to discover and reflect on what life was like for residents and visitors to the local area in times past. This can be interesting and intriguing, and knowledge of the history of a place can provide a better understanding of the way it is now.

Purpose: The Chudleigh History Group's purpose may be summed up as "Preserving Our Parish History". We take a very active interest in any matters relating to the history, preservation or investigation of the fabric of the community, and we constantly monitor any proposed changes or rearrangements affecting the town. In this latter task, CHG works closely with the Chudleigh & District Amemity Society (CADAS).

Welcome to our Museum website.
We are a small, local history Museum in South Devon, led by volunteers.
We have collections describing the life and times of the people of Teignmouth and Shaldon.
These include the Church Rocks Wreck, the remains of a 16th century Venetian vessel, which was found 170m from the beach in Teignmouth in 1975.
We also have collections on the Morgan Giles Shipyard, Admiral Pellew (the inspiration for C. S. Forester’s Hornblower character), and much much more...
Come and see for yourself!

Take local action to bring global change
We need to work fast to reach the targets set locally, nationally and globally to lower carbon emissions and prevent climate and ecological catastrophe.
ACT, short for Action on Climate in Teignbridge, was set up in 2019 to help residents and councils build climate friendly communities and sustainable economies across Teignbridge. ACT is working to understand the problems, identify the changes needed, share information and ideas, and propose effective actions.
