The main reason to visit Crediton Farmers Market is to buy food that is local, fresh, full of flavour and at its best. Our stallholders are the primary producers, working from field to fork, and at the market they sell only what they grow themselves or otherwise create. You can find out exactly how the produce came to be at the market, how it was reared, where was it grown, how was it made, whether it is organic, what breed or variety it is, how to cook it. Just ask the stallholder! They will all be willing and very happy to tell you how they farm and produce their wares.
Virtually everything at the market has been grown, reared, harvested, baked, cooked, smoked, or processed well within 10 miles of the market site. This has obvious benefits for the consumer. For example, fruit and vegetables can be picked the day before the market and driven the few miles to the town square, instead of being flown halfway around the world to a central packing house before then being driven hundreds of miles to a supermarket. There are also many environmental benefits to the shopping at your local farmers market – the food-miles are lower and the carbon footprint is smaller than the equivalent produce might be at an out-of-town supermarket. And market produce isn’t covered in layers of unnecessary plastic packaging.
Food doesn’t have to be organic to be high quality. Many of our producers don’t use chemicals or pesticides and have very high standards of livestock welfare without being certified by the Soil Association. Some are also certified by The RSPCA Freedom Food Assurance Scheme. Many rear free-range animals. If you want to know what is in your food and you want to be confident that it has been reared and grown to the highest standards and values then visit Crediton Farmers Market.

We are a family run dairy farm based on the edge of Dartmoor. We have our own herd of mainly Friesian cows who choose themselves when they milk through our two unit Lely robotic milking system. Our cows are fed mainly on grass and grass silage with selected concentrates as required. We apply no herbicides or pesticides to our grazing land and we rely mainly on homeopathic remedies to maintain the health of our animals. Our cows spend around 10 months of the year outside if the weather permits.
The milk produced by our cows is then pasteurised in our on farm dairy and bottled in both glass and plastic bottles. We also make Devon , Clotted, Double and Single cream.
We cover a large part of Devon, with deliveries at least twice per week in most areas. We aim to have your milk delivered to your door by 7:30am at the latest.

Lloyd Maunder was born into a large family in Witheridge, Devon in 1873. In those days it was quite common for farmers to kill their own livestock and sell through local butchers. Lloyd was therefore born into a family tradition of meat production and he formed his own company trading wholesale meat in 1898. Lloyd Maunders Butchers is currently made up of 12 shops across the south west.

The May Family have been farming at Netherexe since 1975, and up the road at Raddon since 1919. The farm is five miles north of Exeter, running a 4 mile stretch of river bank against the river Exe, lush green meadows produce plenty of summer grazing where the family have a herd of Devon cattle, home bred Dorset sheep. They grow wheat, barley & oats for the beef youngstock, fodder beet and green crop for the sheep.

Our milk comes from our own herd of Quicke’s cows. Our cows are grass-fed almost year-round and spend most of their lives outdoors. A combination of our breeding programme and the animals’ diet gives us the milk we’re looking for in cheesemaking.
However, we don’t keep our own goats on the farm. Our expertise is cows, and it would be a whole new enterprise to start farming goats. So we focus on managing our herd of dairy cows, and we buy goat’s milk in from other farmers in the South West of England – supporting our local farming community along the way.
We're always happy to see you at Home Farm. Drop into the The Cheese Box, try a behind-the-scenes Cheese Tour or have a family day out at one of our many events. Sign up for the Quicke's newsletter to get the latest news from the farm, as well as special offers and event invitations.

So here’s the deal. Back in 2014 Nico came up with a pretty ambitious plan. He was tired of the same old average ice-cream which led him and his girlfriend Natasha (Tash for short) on a pretty crazy Ice-cream filled adventure! They travelled the world in search of the perfect scoop and whilst on their travels they discovered some damn good ice-cream (and some pretty awful ones) and soon after returning the decision was made to jump into the ice-cream manufacturing world themselves and produce their very own Super Premium Ice-cream.
In 2016 with equipment sourced from around the world they got to work. The following 18 months consisted of many trials and lots of errors but finally they began to produce some Ice-cream worthy of the name, and in late 2017 Nico’s Creamery was born.
